Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive at the Hotel at Holmes. If you have a question we don't cover here, please give us a call at 815-753-1444.

What time are check-in and check-out?

You may check-in after 4 p.m. daily. Checkout is by 11 a.m.

What types of payments are accepted at the hotel?

The hotel accepts credit and debit cards. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. We do not accept cash or checks.

Where can I park?

Complimentary parking is included as a part of your stay, one vehicle per room. Approximately a week prior to the scheduled reservations, each guest will receive an email from Parking Services containing important information about their parking pass.

  • This email contains a link to enter vehicle information and license plate number for any vehicles that will be parked on campus. This will serve as your virtual parking pass.
  • Nothing needs to be printed out or displayed in the vehicle windows.
  • The pass will be valid starting at the 4 p.m. check-in time on the day of their arrival.
    • If you need early check-in prior to 4 p.m., please contact us.
  • Guests can park in the visitor lot on Carroll Avenue off the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Carroll.
  • For loading and unloading, guests may choose to use the temporary 30-minute hotel unloading spots in the bus turnaround on the west side of the building.

What is your cancellation policy?

You must call at least 48 hours prior to arrival to cancel a reservation without penalty. If you do not call within this time period or do not call at all to cancel the reservation, your credit card will be charged a cancellation fee equal to the first night's room and tax.

Is there a charge for wireless internet access?

Wifi access is free for guests on NIU's campus, including the Hotel at Holmes.
